Care at the practice

We provide orthodontic treatment for children under the NHS and on a private basis. For those over 18 years of age, treatment is available on a private basis only. NHS patients need to be referred by their general dental practitioner. Private patients can request an assessment directly or be referred.

NHS Orthodontic services are commissioned by Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board who can be contacted at:
Primary Care Team, Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Glossop Terrace, CF24 0SZ.

Orthodontic treatment at the practice is by appointment. If you are not able to keep your appointment, please give us 24 hours notice. Repeated missed appointments may result in us no longer being able to treat you.

Patients can express a preference for a practitioner by informing a member of our administration team.

We expect you to look after you braces and maintain your oral hygiene in order to achieve the best possible result and will work with you to achieve this.

The practice is wheelchair accessible from the street to our reception, ground floor waiting room, W.C. and surgery.

Good communication with our patients is very important to us. We will take our time to explain the proposed treatment and the associated risks. We will discuss available treatment alternatives where appropriate. There will always be time to ask questions about your treatment or any other aspect of care at the practice.

All of our patient documents are available in Welsh and in large font on request. One of our Orthodontists, Catrin Rhys is a fluent welsh speaker and there are several Welsh learners.

If you are not happy to communicate in English or Welsh please let us know so we can arrange for interpretation services. If you have sensory loss and would like a BSL interpreter please let us know.

Our practice policies are available to patients on request.

We want you to be entirely satisfied with your care. We welcome feedback and we have a suggestion box where comments, suggestions and concerns can be posted.

If you are not satisfied with any aspect of your care please talk to our complaints manager, Mrs Margaret Anthony, who will deal with your complaint in line with our practice policy.

Violent or abusive patients will be discharged from the practice and may be reported to the police. Treatment will no longer be provided.
